Raspberry UFO

I don't often order fruit beers, but last night was a hot one, and I thought it might be refreshing.  It was.  It's made by Harpoon, right here in Boston.  I was having dinner with friends in Southie, so I wasn't too far from the brewery.

The beer was amber-colored, and tasted faintly of coriander.  The sweet-tart taste of the raspberries was a good mix with the spice flavor.  It also wasn't so sweet that it was overpowering.

This was a short one tonight, but there's not much else to say about it.  I'd definitely order it again though!

Victor Hugo Les Mis Rosè

The other night, I went to my local wine shop in search of my favorite wine.  It's a blend of Rosè and Pinot Noir by Westport Rivers Winery.  It tastes like cotton candy.  No, I'm serious.

Anyway, The Wine Shop of Reading didn't have any in stock.  They had a bottle of Rosé open and available for sampling.  It was delicious.  I ended up buying a bottle.  I had never heard of this brand before, but I love Les Mis, and I'm a sucker for marketing.

It had very noticeable Cherry notes.  The website says that it's 70% Syrah, 30% Malbec.

Mayflower Porter

I first discovered Mayflower Porter at Tavern in the Square in Porter Square in Cambridge.  I was there with my roommates and friends of one of them.  I saw Mayflower Porter on the menu and it sounded interesting.  (The Cocoa and Coffee notes is what got me)  The waiter smiled, nodded, and said "Good Choice!"  One of my dining companions said "Hey, why wasn't I congratulated on my beer choice?"

Later that year, I found a 6-pack of it just down the street at Liquor World.  I bought it, and tried to introduce everyone I knew to it.

A few months later, getting laid off, and being completely broke, forced me to move back home.  Soon after, a new pub opened up in town, and they have my beloved chocolately, coffee-y beer!

I get it whenever I go there.  Tonight, I went with some friends for trivia night, and had my friends try it.  It was a hit, as usual.

I apologize for the poor lighting.
